The plan provides reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses for medical treatment of illnesses or injuries and is available to regular full-time students(exchange students are not eligible) at 28,000 won per semester.
For regular request A total amount of payment for a medical treatment, which you pay(except Uninsured items), must be over 10,000 won.

Chapter 4. Medical Expense Reimbursement
Article 16 [Reimbursement Policy]
- Reimbursement payment shall be made as follows:
- Payment shall be bade to the menber after deduction 20% from the applicable medical expense.
- In case of death of a menber, 1 million won shall be provided for funeral expense though the case shall be screened by the same criteria as reimbursement.
Article 17. [Applicable Reimbursement]
- The scope of applicable medical expense is limited to the costs of medical treatment and medication for diseases and injuries, and shall be determined contingent upon the member's enrollment in the National Health Insurance Service(here in after referred to as "NHIS")as follows:
- In case of a legally recognized infectious disease, medical expense shall be reimbursed only for the initial diagnosis and not for subsequent treatment.
Article 18. [Reimbursement Limit]
The total amount of reimbursement cannot exceed 500 thousand won per semester per member.
The total amount of reimbursement for outpatient services cannot exceed 200 thousand won per semester per member.
Article 19. [Limits on Reimbursement]
A member may not request reimbursement for the cases listed below.
- Skin illnesses that do not interfere with daily life, including freckle, mole,etc.
- Dental treatment using expensive materials for dental crown, prosthesis, brace, etc.
- Ophthalmological illnesses that require glasses, contact lens, etc. for correcting eyesight
- Cosmetic procedures and surgeries
- Addiction to narcotics, psychoactive drugs, etc.
- Purchase of medical devices and aids including a prosthetic limb, an artificial eye, a hearing aid, a crutch, etc.
- Congenital illnesses that do not interfere with daily life
- Vaccination (except for inoculation with vaccine for diseases including tetanus, etc.)
- Illnesses caused by traffic accidents, violence, etc. for which the third party is liable for the costs(except for the case where the third party is not capable of paying the costs
- Childbirth and regular examinations during pregnancy
- Illnesses caused by accidents that happened while a member was driving under influence, or without a license
- Illnesses caused by traffic and safety accidents that happend while a member wore no personal safety equipment
- Medical examination (except for examinations with the purpose of treatment)
- Other exceptions stipulated by the regulations of the National Health Insurance Act
- Other cases that the board of directors deems inapplicable for reimbursement
Article 20.[Reimbursement Process]
- A regular request for medical expense reimbursement must be made within 1 month of the medical treatment within the semester.
- A special request for medical expense reimbursement must be made within the semester the treatment begins.
- Reimbursement is divided into two kinds, Refular request and Special request.
- A special request for reimbursement sall be limited to:
- An inpatient service
- A series of consecutive medical treatments administered more than 4 times in 30 days due to a surgery or one single illness.
- (If you are enrolled in the National Health Insurance plan)For regular request, a total amount of payment for a medical treatment, which you pay (except Uninsured items)must be ofer 10,000 won.
- To request for medical expense reimbursement, a member must submit an application form and two kinds of receipts issued by medical institutions to the GSA office(214-2 Student Union Building): one receipt with insured and uninsured items by the National Health Insurance, and the other with the actual amount paid(cash or credit card receipts). Additional documents may be required.
- For a special request, a doctor's medical diagnosis and a written statement must be submitted.
Article 21. [Penalty for Unjustified Request]
- In accordance with the Article 19, the board of directors may review an unwarranted request for reimbursement.
- If the board of directors decides that a member made an unwarranted request for reimbursement, it may punish the member as follows.
- If a member made an unwarranted requesr for the first time, he/she must return the reimbursement within 10 days from the notice of the board's decision. Otherwise his/her membership shall be barred until graduation
- For the second unwarranted request, a member must return the reimbursement within 10days from the notice of the board's decision, and his/her membership shall be barred until graduation.
